Description:
John Adams became truly involved in the Revolution when he became a Massachusetts delegate for the 1st Continental Congress. Previously he had defended British soldiers after the Boston Massacre, but became dedicated to the Patriot cause especially after the passage of the Intolerable Acts. Later, he helped draft the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and negotiated to end the war with the Treaty of Paris in 1783. He later became the 2nd president of the United States.
