Description:

While he was previously outspoken and a member of the 1st Continental Congress, George Washington's biggest involvement in the American Revolution came when the 2nd Continental Congress appointed him commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. He officially accepted the role on June 15, 1775 and took charge immediately. He led the Army through the American Revolution and after independence was won, became the 1st president of the United States of America.
