Description:

Antiochus III, a Seleucid king, defeated the Ptolemies and took control of Judea around 198 BCE. This moved Judea from Egyptian-Greek control to Syrian-Greek Seleucid control. That shift later set the stage for Antiochus IV, the Maccabean Revolt, and Hanukkah.
