Its operations include the bombing of the King David Hotel in 1946, the Acre prison break, and the attack on Deir Yassin — actions that make it internationally notorious and bitterly divisive within the Yishuv, where the Haganah at one point actively turned its members over to the British. It is absorbed into the IDF in 1948 after the Altalena confrontation, and its political heirs become Herut and ultimately Likud.
