mar 1, 1920 - Battle of Tel Hai

Description:

A small group defending an isolated northern settlement is attacked amid the collapse of order between French and British zones, and eight defenders including Joseph Trumpeldor are killed. Trumpeldor's reported dying words — that it is good to die for our country — become the movement's founding line, though their authenticity is debated. The settlement is abandoned and later resettled, and the northern border is eventually drawn to include it. It becomes the Yishuv's central symbol of armed self-defense and shapes the case for organized Jewish military capacity.
