Description:

Tutankhamun came to the throne as a child after the collapse of his father Akhenaten's religious revolution and reigned for roughly a decade under the guidance of his officials. He abandoned Akhetaten, restored the worship of Amun, and changed his name from Tutankhaten to signal the reversal. Historically he was a minor king; his fame comes entirely from the discovery of his nearly intact tomb by Howard Carter in 1922. For a timeline of Israel his importance is as the closing of the Amarna episode and the return of Egypt to conventional religion and to active involvement in Canaan.
