jun 6, 1943 - D-Day (/ Operation Overload / Normandy Invasion)

Description:

D-Day (also known as Normandy invasion, or Operation overload), took place on 5 separate beaches in Normandy, France, on June 6th, 1944. It involved the United States, Britain, and Canada, fighting against Germany. The battle consisted of troops being dropped just outside of enemy territory to claim it, Germany struggling to have a counterattack, with the Allied Powers gaining northern France very quickly. The allied powers won, gaining part of France, which was important because it was the largest seaborne operation in history, and helping the allied powers make their final push into Germany.
