Description:

During 1955, Nasser had been in secret talks with the USSR through Czechoslovakia. He wanted arms, and the USSR wanted $300 million worth of Egyptian cotton.

Nasser received:
- 100 self-propelled guns
- 200 armoured personnel carriers
- 300 tanks
- etc.

Nasser didn't want Arab states to get involved in the Cold War, but he did want to play the USA and USSR off against each other. The deal was met with outrage by the West.
