Basketball was first played with leather soccer ball. This is how it all started for the most part and first leather ball which now a days will still use leather balls however it is composite leather. First ever actual basketball used specifically for it, it was a leather ball held together will laces and was not dribbled. This was odd because they used laces like a football and was not like the balls today with bigger circumference than balls today. Basketball was invented and they used a normal soccer ball. This started it all and gave kids a passion and sport to play in the winter. made panels of the ball more visible like the black lines on basketballs today. Helped give the signature look we see today in basketbal Fiba was founded which intruduced new types of balls and kids for younger ages had smaller balls compared to small size for kids in the u.s.This led to the modern fiba ball wich is amazig and the reason people say europeons are great shooters is the baility to perfect their form with the different size balls WNBA was intoduced which gave an orange and white ball with alternating panels and a smaller size. This is whats women an girls use to play basketball today and the same orange and white has stayed the same in the WNBA The first official NBA ball licensed by the nba. It includes evrything standard in an american ball today, the logo, the sizes, and in nba balls the commisioner signature. This is used in 3v3 leauges now and at one pont was the offical ball for AAU basketball Baden Sports used their ball for the harlem globetrotters. Helped harlem globetrotters with a sponsership and gave cool different colors balls. The ball called the "Hole in one basketball" was intrudeced, it had dimples like a golf ball but was the size of a basketball. This was for just play not competative games but it made it easier to whcih made dunkers gravitate towards it In Slovenia "Water Basketball" was made a port which used a ball made of synthetics and plastics. Many people play pool basketball and made a ball that wouldn't absorb or fill up with water and not turn bad becuase of it. The first official NBA ball licensed by the nba.
