Larry’s Tree Cracks Sunday Morning 4am, August 1947 Annie Arives on Train to Kellers household Saturday Afternoon 1pm, August 1947 The Kellers entertain the Neighbors George visits Steve in the Columbus Jail Chris proposes to Annie Joe tells the story of the “incident” blaming Annie’s father George calls Annie Chris and Annie go on a drive Chris is chopping down the rest of Larry’s tree George Arrives on Train George accuses Chris's Father (Joe) to Chris Anne wants to tell Mother about the engagement Joe Keller says he has never been sick, George (Disheveled) in Anger tries to take Anne home (she stays) George tells Steve’s side of the “incident” blaming Joe Kate suggests Anne leaves with George at the 8:30pm Train George Meets mother Kate Keller Lydia arrives and fills George with regret Sue Invites him to check out his old home Joe Enters and awkwardly greets George Joe is accused of by George for the pilots, Joe enforces Steve’s weakness with stories from the past Frank Enters with Horoscope insinuating that Larry is alive everyone else rejects the idea Kate goes crazy George begins to Leave/ Kate tries to make Anne leave Chris and Anne tell George to leave Chris informs Kate of the engagement Kate admits Joe’s guilt Joe attempts to explain himself Chris attacks Joe and Leaves Kate waits for Chris in the yard Jim admits his knowledge of Joe’s Guilt Jim leaves to look for Chris Kate wants Joe to turn himself in Anne enters demanding that Kate admits that Larry is dead she refuses to admit (joe leaves to house) Anne shows Kate Larry’s letter, proving his death (suicide from the knowledge of his fathers treacherous actions) Chris returns and apologizes to Anne for his father’s guilt Anne is torn over whether Chris should do anything about Joe Joe returns and defends himself to Chris Anne gives Chris Larry’s Letter, and he reads it out loud (Kate wants joe not to hear it) then pressures Joe to turn himself in Joe decides to turn himself in – goes in house to get jacket Gunshot is heard from basement (Joe shot himself in the head with his rifle) Chris runs to basement to find Joe dead Chrise runs back to kate and ccries at her feet Kate assures Chris that it is not his fault Anne, Chris, and Kate are left with the tragic consequences of Joe’s life and death ACT 1 ACT 2 ACT 3
