The Meiji Restoration (jan 1, 1871 – jan 1, 1889)

Description:

A new, young emperor, Mutsihito, called his reign Meiji also known as "'Enlightened Rule." This period had overall became the Meiji Restoration. Shogunate controlled earlier emperors. So did the Sat-Cho leaders with the Meiji ruler. The governors of the territories abolished the old order and territories were stripped which were now called prefectures. Meiji reforms lost and progressives won and authority was given to the executive branch.
