Coercive/Intolerable Acts (jun 1, 1774 – jan 1, 1778)

Description:

In response to the Boston Tea Party, the British Parliament passed a series of five acts, called the Intolerable Acts by the colonies. They were implemented specifically to punish the Boston Port and Massachusetts for the Tea Party. These included closing the Boston Harbor to imports or exports, consolidating the government of Massachusetts to prevent the people from gaining power, protecting British officers charged with capital offenses, and forcing American people to house British soldiers if needed.
