Battle of France (may 10, 1940 – jun 25, 1940)

Description:

The Battle of France started on May 10th, 1940, taking place in France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and The Netherlands, with Britian and Germany and the other countries being involved in the war. The battle started with German forces attacking France’s first defence quickly, Germany claiming Luxembourg on their first day. The Netherlands surrendered after 6 days, and Belgium did as well after 18 days, France fighting alone after the British army left them as well, only fighting for a few more weeks until Germany crossed the Seine. The result of this battle was Nazi Germany claiming The Netherlands, France, Belgium and Luxembourg, all within roughly 2 months. This battle was important, because of the tactics the German forces used to claim France, the evacuation of soldiers from Dunkirk, and because France fell for the first time in a world war.
