Operation Dynamo (may 26, 1940 – jun 4, 1940)
Description:
Operation Dynamo (also known as ‘Battle of Dunkirk’, or ‘Dunkirk Evacuation’), happened from May 26th, 1940, to June 4th, 1940. This operation focused on evacuation French, British and Belgium soldiers out of Dunkirk, France, which was being invaded by Germany. The British Expeditionary Force (or BEF), helped evacuate all of the soldiers out of Dunkirk and onto British soil, leading in the victory of this battle / operation going to the Allied Powers. This was important for World War 2, because Hitler’s tactic called Blitzkrieg failed, which resulted in the German army being unable to stop the evacuation of the Allied soldiers.
